Looking for work looks different for everyone. At WISE, we'll take the time to get to know you, understand your goals and help you find work that suits your skills, interests and circumstances.
Whether you've been unemployed for a while, are returning to work or are looking for your first job, we'll support you from your first appointment through to starting work.

What is Workforce Australia?
Workforce Australia is the Australian Government's employment service for eligible people looking for work.
At WISE, we deliver Workforce Australia services across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. We'll work with you to understand your goals and provide support that suits your needs, whether that's help with job searching, resumes, interviews, training or settling into work.
Am I eligible for Workforce Australia?
Through Workforce Australia, you can access government-funded job search assistance, local job opportunity information and advice on training, language, literacy and work experience.
If you're looking for work, Centrelink will determine whether Workforce Australia or Inclusive Employment Australia is the right service for you based on your circumstances.
Workforce Australia may be suitable if you:
- have been unemployed for a short or long time
- have recently been retrenched
- are returning to work after caring responsibilities
- are looking for work for the first time
- would benefit from extra support to prepare for work
- are an Indigenous or First Nations Australian, an asylum seeker or a refugee
- are at least 15 years old but have not yet reached Age Pension age (currently age 67)
We also offer specialist services in the South-East of Melbourne for participants who:
- Have a criminal record (Ex-Offenders program)
- Are from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds

Support you’ll receive when you sign up
Depending on your requirements, we can offer you as little or as much help as you need, including:
Tools and tips to help you
search for a job
Help to prepare
your resume
Advice about the local
labour market
Access to self-help tools and resources, i.e. online job search databases
Referrals for suitable job vacancies based on your skills and location
Personal email account set-up on a free web-based service, as well as cyber safety resources
If you need additional help, we can tailor our services and support to include skills training, language and literacy, work experience or access to other services.
The support doesn't stop when work starts
Starting a new job is a big change. That's why we'll keep supporting you after you start work.
We'll continue supporting you after you start work. We'll check in with you and your employer, help solve any issues that come up, and organise extra training or workplace support if you need it.

How to get started with WISE
Step 1
Get in touch
To access WISE Workforce Australia services, you’ll first need to be registered with Centrelink.
If you’re already registered, you can ask Centrelink to refer you to 'WISE Employment' as your Workforce Australia provider.
If you’re not yet registered, you’ll need to register with Centrelink first. Once registered, you can get in touch with your nearest WISE office to get started.
Step 2
We’ll talk through your options
We’ll learn more about your circumstances and help you understand the services and support available to you.
Step 3
Your first appointment
If WISE is right for you, we’ll organise your first appointment to talk through your goals and start building your plan.
Want to switch to WISE?
Registered with another provider already, but thinking of switching to WISE Workforce Australia?
You can switch your Workforce Australia provider any time! You can only be registered with one provider at a time. If you’d like to transfer to WISE Workforce Australia, please call the National Customer Service Line (NCSL) on 1800 805 260, or log into workforceaustralia.gov.au, to request a transfer to ‘WISE Employment’.
You can also get in touch with your local WISE Workforce Australia office to let them know you’d like to transfer to ‘WISE Employment’. Find all WISE offices or free-call WISE Workforce Australia on 1800 161 231 during business hours. We look forward to helping you find work and access related support services.
